If you are leading a team of people and you want some reading material to help you achieve greater cohesion, then I would recommend The Five Dysfunctions Of A Team by Patrick Lencioni.

This is a great resource for anyone serious about teambuilding - whether as a trainer or facilitator, or as a team leader at any level within an organisation. We have integrated the 5 Dysfunctions into our experiential activities to help bring the lessons to life. For anyone who hasn’t read the book, the 5 Dysfunctions are:

1. Absence of Trust
2. Fear of Conflict
3. Lack of Commitment
4. Avoidance of Accountability
5. Inattention to Result

It has recently been reported that Lencioni was very critical of teambuilding games. I might suggest that this could be the case if he has never experienced how an integrated approach of an experiential learning activity into a team development workshop helps people understand far more rapidly than traditional workshop methods. As seen in isolation, most experiential activities are, at best, a team bonding activity.
