Why use facilitation in team building?

Understand your team objectives

It sounds obvious I know, but you may be surprised by the amount of people who have no clear objectives for their teambuilding. This must be a priority if you are using a facilitated session as we want you to get the most out of it. Be clear in what you want to achieve and Teambuilding Solutions will tell you honestly if we can help you achieve them.

 

Be Realistic!

With the best will in the world, we wil not be able to sort out all your Human Resource problems for you after an afternoon of fun team building! A facilitated team building event can help as part of a structured programme of team development whereby we work in conjunction with internal people to help overcome any team issues. We can also be there to facilitate rewards for high performing teams too - a facilitated event is a way to help the high performers perform even better!

 

Real World Application

Research shows that in real business scenarios, most learning doesn't come through formal training. It actually comes through Experience, Practice, Conversation and Reflection. In our facilitated team building activities, we provide teams with the opportunity to practice their leadership and teamwork without the implication of it effecting real people or the business in which they actually work.

 

Experiential Learning

Another important consideration is that we have a number of learning tools available to us, and we should select the correct option for the specific team. Only the correct balance will achieve the desired outcomes. The Teambuilding Solutions method is to combine conventional learning, where an individuals need for knowledge is satisfied, with experiential learning, where the theory of teambuilding can be put into action.

In this way, the emphasis is on developing people as individuals. If we can have a positive impact upon an individuals confidence, personl strenghs, self esteem and importantly, their sense of purpose, these are equally important for productive work as so called 'essential skills' and knowledge.

 

Experiential Learning can also be FUN

The Teambuilding Solutions approach to learning can also provide employees the opportunity for employees to understand that training and learning can also be fun. Our experience has shown on numerous occassions that barriers are put up by individuals at the beginning because of their past experiences of learning. These are also the people we have had some of the best feedback from at the end of a session!

 

Level playing field

Another aspect of our training and is particularly relevant to team building and experiential learning, is that everyone is on the same level during an activity due to its uniqueness. Educational levels disappear when it comes down to how best tackle a problem. Essentially, our previous experiences are stripped bare so that the essence of our teamwork is brought to the front. This aspect also reinforces the core aspect of our facilitated events - it's centred on the individual.
