The Hell's Kitchen at The Elvetham Hotel experience is a great way to break the ice with the group either as an educational event, or as an icebreaker prior to dinner with a competitive element. Either way, you will learn a lot more about food and about the rest of the group. A great creative event for small groups
So, How Does Hell's Kitchen At The Elvetham Work?
The end game is for your team to create a delicious signature dish that can be replicated by our chef and served to you for your evening meal. However, in order to get your ingredients, you must compete against the other team in several gastronomic challenges! The challenges will all be head-to-head and will require your team to work as a well functioning, tight kitchen.
Your challenges will be:
Knife skills: Before working in the kitchen, you will need to be briefed on how to safely handle various knives and produce the highest standards of cuts. We eat with our eyes, so you will be asked to demonstrate Brunoise, Julienne, Turning and Garnish techniques.
See it, taste it, make it!: Our chef has made a gourmet item of food with their own spin! Your team will get to see and taste the dish before attempting to reproduce it. You will be scored on accuracy of technique and how close to the original the recipe is.
Canapé Creation: The teams have to create their own delicate masterpieces for their drinks reception after the event. Once the teams are finished, our trained chef will come round and judge the finished products and give out points to the winning team.
Finale: The team with the most points from the challenges will be given first choice of the ingredients - so there is pressure to perform right from the off!
The teams will then create their own signature dishes. However, it needs to fit with the starters and desserts already on the hotel menu.
Not only do they need to create the dish but also create a well written recipe for our professional chef to follow and re-create the dish for your private dinner. Will your recipe be good enough for them to follow?
Our chef will then judge the signature dishes to choose which one everyone will eat at the private dinner. A thrilling event to get your team working together whilst learning some great skills!
