The Paper Tower Icebreaker is probably my favourite short teambuild activity - it has all the elements - communication, design, build and of course panic!
So How Does The Paper Tower Icebreaker Work?
Individual teams are given the same building items - paper and cellotape, nothing else! They are also given an egg (chocolate Kinder egg or a real egg if you are feeling brave!).
The task is simple, to build the tallest free standing structure that can support the weight of the egg at it's tallest point for a specified time.
The designs for this are always weird and wonderful and the sense of urgency is created by having a short timeframe. We would suggest a minimum of 15 minute and a maximum of 30 minutes. You will be amazed by the complexity and size of the towers created (18 feet is our current record!)
The session can be used as a facilitated teambuild exercise as the dynamics of the team are pulled in different directions as they work to complete the task.
