Bad habits that could get you fired

Lacking in punctuality or procrastination are amongst the bad habits list that can cause serious problems at work. Negative behaviour can impact not only on you as an individual but on your team, department and company and could potentially loose you your job. So what should you look out for, what behavioural patterns do you know that impede you or a member of your team? Procrastination. Do you think you do your best work under pressure so leave it to the last minute, then plummet into a panic? You are not only affecting your sanity but also those of your co-workers. Negativity. Gossiping and complaining is undermining. If you have a complaint then speak to your manager, don't make an issue bigger than it is and wind everyone else up in the process. Tardiness. If you are always late then you will appear complacent and thoughtless. Show that you care about your job and your colleagues. Bad communication. Think about how you send an email and what content is in it. How do you think you come across? Reply on time. Social Media. Some companies block the use of social media during work time, it inhibits productivity and is distracting. Body language. Think about how you come across, eye contact and a decent hand shake goes a long way. The old adage 'actions speak louder than words' is true. All communication, verbal or not tells a story, make sure yours is the right one. Distraction. Do you or your employees get distracted easily? Think about how you conduct yourself in the workplace. Respect the culture of your environment.
