Crossbows are powerful beasts. Many people assume that they are similar as an activity to archery, but this couldn't be further from the truth. They were both bitter rivals in warfare for hundreds of years. The bow has been around for hundreds of thousands of years with examples being found on every continent except Antartica! The crossbow, however, is a relatively modern invention - only being about a thousand years old! It does, however, have more in common with rifle shooting than archery.
So, How Do Crossbows Events Work?
This session begins with your instructor giving you a safety brief to run through the basics - where to hold, how to load, etc. They will also give you some tips on aiming and what to correct if you are not hitting where you expected to.
After some practice shots, it's then onto the scoring round. This is always where it gets competitive as you can see how you're doing against the rest of the group!
Once the scores have been accumulated, it's then onto the William Tell Challenge - can you shoot the apple of a head (foam one of course!). This is a really fun way to end the session.
We can run Crossbows on their own or as part of a larger
Country Sports event.
